Between Friday, July 29, 2022 and Tuesday, August 2, 2022 property at Centennial park was damaged by an unknown suspect(s). The bracket on a decorative peace dove, used to light up an area of Centennial park was bent out of shape significantly.

The peace dove was part of a decoration added by the Rotary Club in 2021 as a representation of Kitimat’s commitment to being a rotary peace community and will take time to replace.

The cost to replace this is estimated to be $3500. The cost will be covered by the Rotary budget instead of going to other projects in the Kitimat area.

The RCMP are looking to the community to assist in the investigation and help identify any suspect(s) or provide information that could help regarding the incident

The Kitimat RCMP continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information in this matter to contact Cst CULLEN at josh.cullen@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
