Vandalism to three vehicles on Reservoir Road

File # 2024-1615

On Friday, April 26, 2024, at 1:48 a.m., frontline Trail and Greater District officers received a report about three vehicles that were vandalized in the 100 block of Reservoir Road, in Trail, BC. An unknown suspect had scratched words and letters into the paint of the vehicles. One of the incidents was believed to have occurred in March 2024.

Trail RCMP would like to speak to anyone who witnessed any of the incidents and that may have video surveillance in the area when the vandalism occurred.

Alleged hit-and-run by impaired driver in Warfield

On April 26, 2024, at 5:37 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District officer received a report about hit-and-run incident involving a 30-year-old Castlegar woman driving her vehicle in the 600 block of Kipling Street, in Warfield, BC.

The woman was allegedly driving her vehicle at a high rate of speed while cornering when she crashed into a parked vehicle. The woman left the scene of the incident immediately after the incident. The officer received additional reports about the woman was allegedly driving dangerously and erratically in the Warfield area before and after the incident.

While at the scene, the officer observed the woman and her vehicle with extensive front end damage driving on the road toward him and his marked police vehicle. The officer used his marked police vehicle to block the road and detain the woman and her vehicle roadside. The officer arrested the woman for Dangerous Driving contrary to Section 320.13 of the Criminal Code. The woman denied this to the officer then attempted to flee the scene on foot. After a brief struggle, the officer handcuffed and secured the woman in the rear of his police vehicle.

The officer made observations that lead him to believe the woman’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the woman, who refused to provide a sample of breath roadside.

The 30-year-old Castlegar woman was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had her vehicle impounded for up to 30 days.

The matter remains under investigation.

Single vehicle incident on Highway 3

On April 27, 2024, at 2:58 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to single vehicle incident in the 6000 block on Highway 3, Rossland, BC.

A 19-year-old Castlegar woman and her passenger were traveling below the speed limit on slush covered roads in poor weather conditions when the vehicle began to fishtail. When the vehicle contacted the shoulder of the road, it flipped over and the airbags were deployed. Both driver and passenger were believed to have only sustained minor injuries; however, sought medical attention at a hospital as a precaution.

Impaired driver caught in downtown Trail

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:05 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report that a 23-year-old Trail man was allegedly impaired while driving his vehicle in the 1600 block of Bailey Street, in Trail, BC. The officer located the man and his vehicle then detained it roadside.

The officer made observations that lead him to believe the man’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. A demand was read to the man, who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a fail.

The 23-year-old Trail man was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had his vehicle impounded for up to 30 days.

Trail RCMP will be continuing to target impaired drivers in a effort to keep our roads safe, says Sgt. Wicentowich
