Man arrested, charged in weekend arson

A Kamloops man is scheduled to appear in court today in relation to a suspicious vehicle fire reported on Friday.

On Feb. 23, 2024, just before 8 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were contacted by Kamloops Fire and Rescue, which had just attended a van fire on the 700-block of St. Paul Street.

As part of the investigation, police officers quickly identified and located a suspect nearby, on the 300-block of St. Paul Street and took him into custody, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Troy Mitchell Felix, 27, of Kamloops is charged with one count of arson related to intentionally or recklessly causing damage or explosion to property; and one count of theft of a portable battery booster. He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for today, Feb. 28, 2024.
