File # 2023-5270

A brief hold and secure at a North Shore school ended Tuesday with a youth suspect being arrested by police.

On Feb. 14, 2023, around 1:45 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report involving threats directed toward a school on Bebek Road. Through consultation with police, the School District issued a hold and secure which was lifted shortly after, once police had the suspect safely in custody.

Due to the quick action of the police officers responding, the suspect was located very quickly after police received the report and the hold and secure was lifted prior to the end of the school day, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Kamloops RCMP.

No further information will be released to protect the identity of the youth suspect and the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-5270.
