File # 2023-3877

Stopping a vehicle that had a piece of metal dragging under its rear bumper led to a drug seizure last night.

On Feb. 2, 2023, around 2:50 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was patrolling the area of Selkirk and 12th Avenue when he conducted a traffic stop. The driver was uncooperative when asked for his license and refused to follow instructions; he was arrested for obstruction. Police checks revealed the man was a prohibited driver.

Further investigation led to the seizure of suspected drugs, including approximately 18.7 grams of meth, 9.3 grams of fentanyl, 14.9 grams of crack, and 8.8 grams of unidentified pills.

Cash and paraphernalia associated to drug trafficking was also seized, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver was released, pending the investigation’s conclusion and any subsequent charge recommendations. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-3877.
