File # 2023-1917/1916

Police were called to break-in reports at a business on Parkcrest Avenue and another on Athabasca Street early Tuesday morning, but only one of them had anything stolen.

On Jan. 17, 2023, around 2 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report of a truck stolen from a business and used to ram through its gates. According to the investigation, the theft occurred around 1:20 a.m. and involved a dark coloured pickup, suspected to have frontend damage.

In what appears to be an unrelated incident, police were soon after called to a business alarm on the 2000-block of Parkcrest Avenue, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. A front door was smashed and a nearby vehicle had a window broken, but nothing appeared to be taken.

Video in the area captured an image of a suspect hanging around the location for about 30 minutes and committing the mischief around 2:10 a.m. He is described as male, wearing light shoes, dark pants, and a light hoodie. Anyone who saw the suspect in the area or has information that may help identify him, is asked to please contact police.

Those with information related to either investigation can call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-1917 for the Parkcrest incident, 2023-1916 for the one on Athabasca Street.
