The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 392 calls for service from Friday Dec. 16, to 9 a.m. on Dec. 19, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.
Drug impaired driver

Proactive patrols led to an impaired driver being removed from the roadway.
On Dec. 17, 2022, around 1:20 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was patrolling when he observed a truck idling in a parking lot on the 5000-block of Dallas Drive. Upon further investigation, a sobriety test was conducted. The driver received a 24-hour driving suspension and the vehicle was impounded.
A small bag of suspected fentanyl was also located and seized.
Stolen trailer recovered

A person is out a trailer after they attempted to register it and discovered it was stolen.
On Dec. 18, 2022, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of a person running into difficulty while trying to insure a trailer purchased online. The vehicle identification number (VIN) on the transfer papers was hard to read and could not be located in the insurer’s registry.
As part of the investigation, police confirmed the trailer had been stolen from Lupin Drive between Dec. 3 and 5. It was returned it to its rightful owner; the new purchaser was unfortunately the victim of fraud.

Vehicle crashes into police cruiser

A Kamloops RCMP vehicle is temporarily out of service following a collision on the North Shore early Monday morning.
On Dec. 19, 2022, around 1 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was travelling southbound on Fortune Drive when he was t-boned by a Toyota Corrolla. The Corrolla was turning left when it allegedly drove over a centre median and into the marked police vehicle.
No one was injured in the collision, but both vehicles required a tow. Anyone who witnessed or has information is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment and reference file 2022-44933.
