The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 494 calls for service over the weekend, from midnight Friday Oct. 7, to 9 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 11, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Stolen vehicle

2022-35982

A large police presence was visible on the North Shore Friday night in response to a vehicle freshly stolen from a parking lot.

On Oct. 7, 2022, around 8:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the 600-block of Fortune Drive after a person left their car running to go inside a restaurant, then returned shortly after to find someone else driving it away. The vehicle is described as a 2009 blue Toyota Matrix, BC licence plate SC6 99X. It has a license plate clipped to the windshield.

The suspect is described a man wearing jeans, sneakers, a black t-shirt, backpack, with a large duffle bag. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-35982.

Weapons report on the North Shore

Multiple officers responded to the 100-block of Tranquille Road on Sunday for a report of a man running toward the beach with what appeared to be a long gun.

On Oct. 9, 2022, around 5:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the area and quickly located a blue truck associated to the report, followed by two suspects who returned to the truck, then fled toward the bushes when confronted by police. One of the suspects was located and arrested under the bridge shortly after.

The area was searched with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, but no firearms were located. The blue truck the suspects were associated to was later confirmed stolen from the 1300-block of Kootney Way.

Break and enter to a residence

2022-36247

A person came home to find two strangers sleeping in bed Monday morning.

Multiple frontline officers and the Police Dog Service Unit responded to the residence on Elm Avenue around 10:50 a.m., Oct. 10, 2022, and arrested a man and a woman inside for offences related to breaking and entering.

They were released with conditions and a court date. Charge recommendation is anticipated as part of the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-36247.
