File # 2022-25889

A series of sexual interference allegations has local police reaching out to the community to see if anyone has more information related to the investigation.

In late July, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment began an investigation following a report involving workplace sexual assaults on an underage employee. The incidents allegedly began in May and continued into July at a retail store on the 2000-block of the East Trans Canada Highway. Since then, other victims have been identified and spoken with police.

As the investigation progresses, police have reason to believe more people may have information related to allegations involving the accused, but have not yet contacted police, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. If something has happened to you or someone you know, and you have not yet reported it to police, please reach out. It’s important for us to hear from you.

The suspect was arrested last week and released on conditions, pending the investigation’s conclusion and subsequent charge recommendation and approval process.

Even if a victim is not ready to proceed with criminal charges, they are still encouraged to report any suspected sexual offences to police. Along with being able to offer and refer supports, officers can also collect data and information that may be able to assist in identifying more victims and helping to protect others. The Kamloops RCMP can be reached at 250-828-3000. Please call 911 for emergencies.

Those who have or know someone who has experienced sexual violence and needs support, can call the Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre Crisis Line for local and confidential support available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 1-888-974-7278.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
