Prince George

2023-01-05 15:21 PST

From a Mountie’s point of view, New Year’s Eve was calmer in Prince George than it has been in years past.

This year saw a slight drop in service requests, with a total of 110 calls to police on the last day of 2022. The peak hours for calls to police occurred late in the evening on December 31, 2022 and in the early morning hours of January 1, 2023.

Overall, calls to police on New Year’s Eve were in-line with regular types of service calls: police were kept busy attending to numerous disturbances and incidents caused by intoxicated individuals, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Prince George RCMP attended just over 46,000 calls for service in 2022, which is down from 2021’s year-end total of 51,000.
