File # 2022-41240, 2022-41241

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Prince George RCMP Frontline Police Officers responded to two separate reports of bear spray attacks in the area of Spruce Street and 15 Avenue.

The first victim told police he was waiting at the cross walk when three men dressed in black approached him and demanded his backpack. When the victim did not hand over his bag, one man deployed bear spray in the victim’s face. The second victim reported to police she saw what was happening and called out, which prompted the men to come after her and spray her with bear spray, as well. The second victim also told police she was struck in the leg by one of the men.

These are very brazen attacks on innocent members of the public that we are taking very seriously, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. Though it was early in the morning, these assaults occurred near a busy intersection. We are asking for any witnesses to either assault, or for anyone with a dash cam that was in the area, to please contact an investigator by calling the non-emergency line at 250-561-3300. Please quote file number 2022-41240 or 2022-41241.
