Missing kayakers found deceased

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP would like to update the public that the two men who went missing while kayaking between Island View Beach and the Gulf Islands on April 20th, 2024, have been found deceased.

American authorities have recovered the bodies of two deceased individuals off of San Juan Island and the San Juan County Coroners service later confirmed the deceased to be Daniel MacAlpine and Nicolas West.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP would like to thank all the agencies that were involved in this search and subsequent recovery efforts. Our thoughts are with the families at this time, said Staff Sergeant Wayne Conley of the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.
