Fatal motor vehicle incident on Highway 95 S

Highway 95 S was closed in both directions from approximately 12 PM to 6 PM today following a fatal motor vehicle incident near Schiesser Rd, 17 kilometres south of Golden BC.

An SUV lost control of their vehicle while travelling northbound on Highway 95 S and collided head-on with a transport truck heading south. The vehicles caught fire, and the fire was contained roadside.

Both occupants of the SUV died during the collision, and a next of kin notification is currently in progress.

Both occupants of the transport truck survived and are being treated in Hospital for minor injuries.

Highway 95 S is the alternate route for Trans Canada traffic while Highway 1 is closed for the Kicking Horse Canyon Construction Project until December 1, 2022.

"Highway 95 S is now reopened, and First Responders are urging drivers to slow down, take breaks, and drive safely," states Constable Kat Robinson, Media Relations Officer for the Golden-Field RCMP.
