RCMP and BC Coroners Service investigating incident at hospital

On October 10th, 2022, RCMP were called to the Penticton Regional Hospital in relation to a patient’s death. The patient had been admitted into the hospital’s in-patient psychiatric unit at the time of their death.

RCMP are working alongside the BC Coroners Service, and are in close communication with Interior Health, as each agency conducts their own separate investigation.

Interior Health contacted the RCMP immediately following the incident. There were no threats of harm to staff or patients on the unit.

Penticton RCMP will continue to work in collaboration with Interior Health on best practices that consider the safety of all visitors, patients and staff, says Cst. James Grandy.
