IHIT deployed to assist Sunshine Coast RCMP for suspcious vehicle fire

Sunshine Coast RCMP is advising the public of an investigation into a suspicious vehicle fire and requesting anyone with information to contact police.

On September 28, 2022, at approximately 1:15 a.m. Sunshine Coast RCMP received a report from Egmont Fire to attend the 15500 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy, Egmont for a suspicious vehicle fire.

First responders attended the scene and after the fire was extinguished humans remains were located in the vehicle. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed and will be working in partnership with the Sunshine Coast RCMP. The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. Traffic on Highway 101 continues to be open. More details will be released by the IHIT Media Relations Officer as they become available.
