Body recovered in Long Lake

At approximately 10:45 AM on Thursday November 17, 2022, an individual out for a morning walk, spotted what appeared to be a body floating in Long Lake. The body was seen approximately 40 meters off shore from the swimming area, located at the south end of the lake.

Police responded. City of Nanaimo Fire and Rescue were contacted and responded with their high speed rescue vessel. Fire crews were able to successfully recover the body and bring it to shore. The BC Coroners Service was advised and also responded. Investigators do not believe there is anything suspicious about the death and that foul play is not involved. The BC Coroners Service will continue with their investigation.
