File # 2021-3737

On August 3rd, 2021 Sidney RCMP officers inspected a new local business while performing their daily community foot patrols.

Seven-year-old Eli Weekes offered officers their choice of either lemonade or iced tea which he was selling at the corner of James White Blvd and Seventh St.

When officers asked Eli what he was using the money for, he told them that he is currently sponsoring a child named Gerald who lives in Zambia through a world charity and will be donating proceeds from the sales.

It is absolutely amazing to see local community members who are passionate about making a difference. Especially at such a young age. Eli should be recognized for his huge heart. I would definitely go back for a second cup! said Corporal Andres Sanchez, Media Relations Officer with the Sidney North Saanich RCMP.

Eli made a total of 85 dollars on Tuesday but told officers that he will be planning to sell lemonade throughout the summer.

This week we salute you Eli!
