Police presence in Valleyview: drugs and firearm seized

A report involving a firearm and a truck led to police seizing weapons, drugs, and cash from a nearby motel room yesterday.

On Sept. 14, 2022, around 11:05 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the East Trans Canada Highway where a man had been observed running across the highway with a long gun in his sleeve, then getting into a truck. Officers located the vehicle at a motel nearby, arrested its occupants, and as part of their investigation, identified a room the man with the firearm was suspected to be inside.

Police located three people, a firearm that had been reported stolen during an overnight theft from vehicle report, a loaded cross bow, cash, and approximately one kilogram of various suspected illegal drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine, inside of the room, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The items were seized by police and those arrested were released without process, pending the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information or video that may be related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-32796.
